HIS.com Status: Dialup line update

[HIS System Status Updates]

There has been no change in the status of our dialup lines, but we do 
know which lines are working:

703-245-0309

This covers most of the geographic area that we serve, so access is 
still available if you dial one of these numbers.

AT&T has figured out that what has happened is that Verizon has hijacked 
numbers that they originally provided years ago but were transferred to 
AT&T when we changed vendors about 7 years ago.  Whether this was done 
as part of an Evil Plot, bad record keeping or human error, we don't 
know.  The numbers that are still working (listed above) were all 
provided by AT&T and weren't vulnerable to Verizon's mischief.

AT&T has done everything they can but need Verizon to take the next 
step, and Verizon is being about as responsive as a rock (they aren't 
losing any revenue ...), and there appears to be no way to escalate this 
at Verizon until morning.
