HIS.com Status: Verizon circuit repaired

[HIS System Status Updates]

Verizon made a physical routing change to one of our key circuits  
between Washington DC and Kensington Maryland around 1 AM Friday,  
after which the circuit began to go down for a few seconds several  
times an hour.  Connectivity was maintained via backup links, but when  
a circuit 'flaps' like this momentary pauses result while routing  
falls over to the backups, then back to the primary.

The problem became severe between 4 and 5 PM Friday and it became  
difficult to check mail on servers like mail.his.com.  Verizon  
replaced a line card, which helped a lot, and another adjustment at 1  
AM Saturday cleared the problem completely.
