HIS.com Status: mail.his.com - change in handling over over-quota mailboxes

HIS System Status Updates status at his.com

We've made a change in handling of quotas for mailboxes on mail.his.com
to extend the grace period that users have once they've exceeded their
disk space allowance until mail for their account starts being rejected.

Accounts on mail.his.com have two quotas: a 'soft' quota that can be
exceeded for a period of time, and a hard quota that can't be exceeded.
Under the new policy, quotas are set as follows:

*Mailbox Type*
*soft quota* *hard quota* *grace period*
regular
	100 megabytes
	150 megabytes
	10 days
superbox
	250 megabytes
	375 megabytes
	10 days

When you go over your disk space quota, you'll be able to continue to
receive mail for 10 days, or until you hit your 'hard' quota, whichever
comes first. Once your grace period has run out, or you hit your hard
quota, no more mail for you will be accepted until you delete enough old
mail to get below your soft quota.

If you exceed your disk space quota, you'll get a notice to let you know.

To check your disk space status on on mail.his.com, log on to
https://mail.his.com - there's a bar graph on the left-hand side of the
screen once you've logged in that shows your disk space status.

Disk space quotas are necessary for reliable system operation - without
per-user limits, it would be possible for disk use to get out of
control, causing mail to be rejected for large numbers of users when
disks filled up. We've tried to set the limits very generously, making
them high and giving a very long grace period to handle situations like
temporarily going over your allowance while on vacation or away from the
office or getting several messages with unusually large file attachments.
