- FACEBOOK AND RELATIONSHIPS
Facebook and Marriage is a hot topic. First there is the incredible success
of the film Social Network (all about Facebook and I highly recommend it)
and now the pastor who made big splash when he decreed that his married
congregation leaders and staff had to get off Facebook cast away
temptation or be removed from leadership positions. This, combined with
the nutty interpretation of the Pew survey, and it¹s as though the media is
shouting that Marriage is Obsolete and we should all just get out there on
the Social Network and get with it. In any case, Facebook has drastically
changed the way we interact and it¹s not going to go away. We need to help
couples and families learn how best to live with it. (I¹ve finally accepted
it, Facebook is the only way I can reach my grandkids, nieces and nephews.)
It is our good luck that two of our own, Jason and Kelli Krafsky, have
become the go-to experts on how to harness Facebook to the service of
marriage and relationships. Very nice to have two Marriage Educators so far
out on the cutting-edge and providing solutions while they¹re educating
about Facebook, they are also able to provide information about the whole
Marriage Education field and the radical concept that anyone can get smarter
about marriage. Tah Dah.
The Krafsky¹s got way out front with their book Facebook and Your Marriage
and they stay out front with timely commentary on all things Facebook, like
their most recent Blog post, ³Should Pastors Really Ban Facebook?²
http://tinyurl.com/2w4rwfd
They also present at churches, schools, community events, and on bases.
They just completed a very successful seminar series at Fort Sill, Oklahoma
where they presented to both military and civilian couples on "How to Have a
Facebook Affair with Your Spouse" and "How to Be Your Kids' Facebook Friend
and Parent Too!" They even presented on how to safeguard national
security-related information when using Facebook. They have seminars on ³How
Social Media Connects Families Before, During and After Deployment² and
³What Every Long Distance Relationship Need to Know - The Do's and Don'ts of
Social Media² - and more, see below.

- MARRIAGE HOLIDAY RITUALS
As we prepare for the holidays, you might want to visit this collection of
marriage holiday rituals get some helpful ideas and/or send yours for
sharing/posting. Reading over this wonderful list, I see we need some for
Thanksgiving. Also scroll up the page for just plain ³marriage² rituals.
There are some great ones. I like the one about the Father¹s Day tree.
Also, the rule for when the Christmas tree can come down is pretty good,
too.

- ICE CONTACT INFO
You have likely already seen this, but just in case, I will repeat it as so
many of us set off on holiday trips. Hope you all have a safe and happy
Thanksgiving. - diane
Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene
of an accident when they come across your cell phone.
ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but
nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our
closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people
attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know w ho to call.
Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact
person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency)
Campaign the concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of
contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile) phones are carried by
the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a
contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the
name 'ICE' (In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the
scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they
didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a
good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an
eme rgency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would
be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you
have stored as 'ICE.'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A
great idea that will make a difference!
Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile
phones today.
