Attention Pastors:
Would you be interested in proposal for your local church that will:

and be loyal to your local church?

A Marriage Mentor is a mature married couple (not necessarily older but
just mature) you designate who are properly trained and sanctioned by
the church to:

1) Perform pre-marital preparation;

2) Help married couples work through issues

3) Care for and counsel couples in crisis.

Send your mature married couples or associate pastors to be trained as
marriage mentors at the Smart Marriages Conference July 8-11 in Orlando
at the Shingle Creek Rosen Center.  This is the largest meeting of the

- GRANT OPPORTUNITY

Hi Diane-

I have just learned of a grant opportunity only open for state departments
and/or agencies that administer independent living programs for youth aging
out of foster care (e.g., Human Services and Child Welfare Agencies) to
apply. It is named "Support Systems for Rural Homeless Youth: A
Collaborative State and Local Demonstration".

In the grant RFP, they ask that the interventions include the following core
elements:

    * HEALTHY  MESSAGES to adolescents about their bodies, THEIR BEHAVIORS
AND THEIR INTERACTIONS;

    * Safe and structured places for teens to study, recreate, and
socialize;

    * STRENGTHENED RELATIONSHIPS with adult role models, such as parents,
mentors, coaches or community leaders and peers;

    * SKILL DEVELOPMENT in literacy, competence, WORK READINESS AND SOCIAL
SKILLS and

    * Opportunities to serve others and BUILD SELF ESTEEM.

I'm hoping you will pass this along to your list and suggest that they reach
out to their state leaders with this information. In addition, they should
put in a pitch for local marriage educators and FACS teachers being included

meet these key grant objectives.
