- THE AMAZING CALIFORNIA MARRIAGE SURVEY

The complete and mind-blowing California Marriage Survey is now available
for your use.  I think the best use is in your own communities to blow the
myths and misinformation about marriage OUT OF THE WATER.  The results are
so amazing that your first thought is that it can't be accurate - when I
heard the first results I remember I asked Dennis Stoica if they only called
Catholics. But part of the survey report also reports on its own validity.
Among many significant findings, the  survey that shows that a majority of
Californians place a STRONG value on marriage and believe: divorce is a
major concern; government should support Marriage Education services in the
community; couples should attend Marriage Education classes before marriage;
Marriage Education should be taught in high schools; and Marriage Education
should be required before a divorce is granted.  This is amazing precisely
because it is California - a liberal, blue state.  It's also very helpful
that the survey can break down demographics to show these values cut across
the political lines: Republicans and Democrats. Valuing marriage is not a
Red value or a Blue value, it's an American value.  We shared preliminary
results on this list and Dennis Stoica also shared results at his opening
keynote in San Francisco, but it's nice to have the full monty in this FREE
and downloadable format.  Thank you California Healthy Marriage Coalition!

Social liberals in the country¹s ³blue states² tend to support sex education
and are not particularly troubled by the idea that many teen-agers have sex
before marriage, but would regard a teen-age daughter¹s pregnancy as
devastating news. And the social conservatives in ³red states² generally
advocate abstinence-only education and denounce sex before marriage, but are
relatively unruffled if a teen-ager becomes pregnant, as long as she doesn¹t
choose to have an abortion.
