I'm getting inquiries from people who were upset when they missed the call
for ads in last year's Conference Brochure. This is to alert the list that
the CALL for ADS is posted (half way down in the far right column of the
Conference page) on the Smart Marriages Website:

Ads usually sell out by the first week in December, so if you're interested,
don't wait.

- VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS

Alert any students you know to visit the website if they want the
information about attending the conference as a work-exchange volunteer.
Volunteers attend all events including keynotes, workshops, banquets and

- HOTEL RESERVATIONS

The Shingle Creek Resort is taking reservations.  Several times the
reservations have closed.  If that happens to you, please email me
immediately and I'll be sure they put more rooms in our block.

$115 single/double; $125 triple; $135 quad.
(Plus tax - 13.05%)

Rates are in effect July 3 - July 15, based on availability. Note that these
rates are good only for reservations made by June 12, 2009 or until we fill
our block, whichever comes first.

- TRAGEDY IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD

I've received several emails inquiring about the double homicide this
weekend. Those in the greater DC area notice that the murders were committed
in the 5300 block of Belt Rd and then remember that that is the Smart
Marriage office address.  I work out of my home, and the couple murdered
were my wonderful next-door neighbors of 35 years. We're all in shock and
numb, and it's been incredibly chaotic with the police and media presence,
and I thank everyone for their concern, but I'm fine and don't need
anything.  The police are doing due diligence and held a neighborhood
