I want to recommend a powerful movie to anyone working with
fathers/fatherhood. Tsotsi (means gangster or thug) made in 2005 and
nominated for best foreign film, was filmed in South Africa in the sprawling
Johannesburg township of Soweto.  The slow unfolding realizations  capped
by the final scene  is incredibly powerful.....Tsotsi's compelling
realization of what fathers/husbands have that those with their noses
pressed against the glass looking in from the outside (for whatever reason)
will never have.  - diane

Jan Borst sent in a full page Marriage ad from a recent US News and World
Report. The ad is by AIG financial advisors.  Photo is a married couple
holding hands (all you see are the hands but it's obvious: wedding ring -
middle aged hands) with the only text being a big "+5" and Elizabeth Barrett
Browning's How Do I Love Thee - the full poem and the tag line:

MARRIAGE CAN ADD 5 YEARS TO YOUR LIFE.

- TAH DAH! DIRECTORY MORATORIUM FINALLY LIFTED

Many of you have asked how to add your listing to the Smart Marriages
On-Line Directory of Programs. I've had to delay as we were still working on
website updates.  Finally, the moratorium is lifted, and I can accept new
listing. Tah Dah! Thanks for your patience.

It's $75 to list for the full year for a 100 word listing that includes live
links to your email and website.  That's only $6.50 a month. This is the
perfect time to add a listing - it's the beginning of the billing cycle so
you get the last two months of 2007 for free.  For "How to List", visit:

It's also good to get your listings up ASAP as a full round of conference
display ads are appearing across the country in Nov and we're mailing
150,000 conference postcards next week - both feature the smartmarriages
website address and hits always dramatically increase around these events.
Hits will also surge in Feb with Marriage Week and when the brochures are
mailed. 

More good news for the loyal listers is that process has become easier and
more affordable. Instead of having to purchase multiple listings to be
featured in different categories on the Directory, we can now just click a
button and your listing will appear (like magic) in different areas - like
in Marriage Education Programs and Faith Based, or Premarital Education and
Teach Out of the Box - there are many examples because there are so many
categories. I know that some of you will still choose to have multiple
listings because you have multiple programs and it is such a cheap way to
advertise to a very targeted market, but others will rewrite your listing
with the details about your various programs on your own websites.

There is also a SCHEDULE OPTION ($225 per year) and the good news here is
that we were able to get rid of the space constraints so were able to drop
the nutty little rules about abbreviations etc!  Oh happy day!
