- MASTERING THE MAGIC OF LOVE
Here's an endorsement from one of the true masters of the field, Barry
Ginsberg, for the new Mastering the Magic of Love program. Coming from him,
a master RE teacher, it's quite an endorsement. This is the program included
above in the Kentucky training and it is also being offered in a three-day
training institute in San Francisco:

> 103 Three Days - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, June 30, July 1 & 2
> Mastering the Magic of Love & Love¹s Cradle
> Mary Ortwein, MS
> Qualify to teach three programs: the original Classic RE plus two new
> simplified programs, Mastering the Magic of Love, and Love's Cradle (for
> couples with an infant). Plus add-on special focus seminars. Ideal for
> low-income, community or church based. Spanish version available. $150 spouse
> discount. Click for more information: http://www.smartmarriages.com/re.html

Diane,
I know you love "reports from the field" about the new programs so want to
share my excitement about my experience teaching Mary Ortwein's new
Mastering the Magic (MML) of Love an adaptation of the Relationship
Enhancement program. I just taught an introductory 4-session version of the
program and twenty couples signed up! Their response was more than positive.
A lot of the emphasis was on each couple taking responsibility to practice
the activities on their own. Homework was discussed at the beginning of each
session. At the end, couples had a variety of handouts to use for continued
practice. I have a follow-up session next Tuesday to reinforce the learning
and practice and I also plan to follow up with components from the program.
I offered the same fee ($25 per session, $75 for the series) whether both
partners or only one of them attended. I think that improved their interest
and encouraged the attendance of both partners most of the time. My
conclusion: it's a winner and so rich with information and activities that
it could enhance any marital education program.

I will send bumper stickers, and I know what you mean. I had four plumbers
here for past few days (replacing my steam heat boiler that rusted out -
very exciting.). They were late 20s/early thirties and all from miserable
broken homes....and all of the firm belief that marriage kills love. They
saw the bumper stickers on my car and did seem truly curious, though I'm not
sure I convinced them that marriage is better than cohabitation which they
seemed to think was the only route that made any sense.

If anyone else wants bumper stickers, just let me know. -d
