- DENVER TAH DAH!!
I got home yesterday, Wed, July 4th. The conference was a HUGE success.
More than 2500 attendees and everyone says it was the best ever.
Great keynotes, great workshops. Thanks so much to the presenters,
exhibitors, and volunteers and to all of you that traveled from near and far
to make it so special - we had attendees from all 50 states and from dozens
of countries. The energy, enthusiasm and optimism were over the
top.
I am encouraged by your eagerness to get started on San Francisco 2008 -
lots of exhibit, presenter, volunteer, hotel questions. I'll be working on
getting that info ready ASAP but much of it will require a trip to San
Francisco. I must first close out the Denver conference - plus I will be
away the last two weeks of July so it will be at least the end of August
before presenter, exhibit, volunteer information is posted. Watch this
space you'll see notices here first.
Welcome to the many new subscribers that signed on since Denver!

- SAN FRANCISCO - SAVE THE DATES
The 12th Annual Smart Marriages Conference will be held in San Francisco at
the elegant Hilton San Francisco, July 2 - 5, 2008. Or, June 30 -
July 6th if you're counting the pre and post conference training institutes.
You'll note that we're meeting over the July 4th holiday which means we have
an unbelievable $115 single/double rate for this beautiful hotel in this
city by the bay. The hotel is downtown just 2 blocks from Union Square.

You cannot yet reserve rooms at the conference rate. I'll send a notice to
the list when we figure out how we're going to do this. At this rate, the
hotel may require that we register for the conference BEFORE we can reserve
a hotel room. We're talking. Will let you know. - diane

- NACFLM, AIR FORCE IN 2008 ??
I've been asked by quite a few folks if NACFLM and the Air Force are again
meeting at Smart Marriages. Yes, NACFLM will again meet in conjunction with
Smart Marriages - that's definite. Not sure about the Air Force. If anyone
knows, let me know. - diane

- MARKETING KEYNOTE
> Diane,
> After hearing the presentation by Dennis & Julie re: Tools of the Trade, I'm
> wondering if you could set up a page that deals with advertising and
> marketing. I have searched the First Things First site and found some of the

> you could set up a links page, it would be handy.
>
> Absolutely loved the conference! This was my third and it was the best ever.
> The plenaries were outstanding. I'll complete my on-line evaluation after

I think this is the most often repeated request at the conference - everyone
wants a way to order the resources Dennis Stoica and Julie Baumgardner
featured in their Tools of the Trade showcase. I will look into creating a
page and getting a link posted to the featured resources. In the meantime,
let me answer the other questions about this keynote:
1) You can order the DVD of the keynote and, yes, ALL the featured resources
will be included on the DVD. This one is visual so, if you missed it, it
will not work to order an audio recording. You need to SEE these
billboards, posters, pamphlets, public service videos, etc. Order session
#757-011 at 800-241-7785.
2) We apologize if your resources were not featured. We sent three notices
to the list asking for submissions sorry if you missed it. The good news
is that there is an explosion of resources and that there will be plenty to
showcase in San Francisco.
3) All the MARKETING sessions at the conference got high marks. I had no
idea I should have video recorded Ron Deal's workshop - apparently it was
also very *visual* if he repeats it in SF, we'll record it. Ditto, I'm
told, for Julie and Ro's Marketing Institute and the horror is that that was
not even audio recorded! Here is a list of the marketing sessions that I've
heard were over-the-top terrific. Of course there may be many more, I
haven't seen any evaluation reports yet, this was just people coming up to
all aglow:
