- MOVIE: REIGN OVER ME
Hi Diane,
Wanted to mention another movie that I believe is supportive of
marriage----Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler. It shows a near affair
occurring in the office, speaks of boredom with the relationship, and
finally reconnecting in a more positive place.

- JERKS AND MARRIAGE LINKS IN SINGAPORE.....AND, IRAQ

Hi Diane,
Just heading back from Singapore and thought you'd appreciate an update. I
trained instructors and did several presentations for the public and
professionals. The PICK (How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk) and Marriage LINKS
programs are now both available in Chinese Mandarin and they will begin
this week to train instructors using the new translations in Singapore,
Malaysia, and China. They are also enthusiastic about my new program using
the RAM for parents and children which they've invited me to present at
their 2008 annual Family Conference. And, we are working to get the
PICK/JERK program required in colleges and universities. With this handled,
I can now focus on Smart Marriages and June. Talk to you soon.

Great work! And, it just shows how fast these programs are making their way
around the world. Each year at Smart Marriages we have policy folks
attending from all over the planet and each year they import programs and
experts. I'm sure we'll also be introducing the new RAM (Relationship
Attachment Model) program for parents and kids at the 2008 Smart Marriages
conference, but this year you can train in both the Jerks and Marriage Links
program and also see an application of the RAM model, "Hearts United",
designed to work with deploying soldiers in the opening keynote. - diane

- WADE HORN RESIGNATION

Welfare, abstinence chief resigns
By Kevin Freking, Associated Press Writer
April 2, 2007

WASHINGTON --Wade Horn, the Bush administration's point man for welfare
reform, Head Start and abstinence education, resigned Monday as assistant
secretary for children and families.

In the Department of Health and Human Services, Horn oversaw a $46 billion
budget and 65 programs that serve vulnerable children and families. He is
best known for his work on issues embraced by social conservatives, such as
more money for faith- based groups and organizations that work to help
couples improve their marriage.

Republicans gave some of those programs significant funding increases when
they were in the majority. For example, Congress set aside for the next five
years up to $100 million a year to promote marriage and $50 million a year
to produce committed fathers. Similar expansions may be harder to come by
with a Democratic majority.

The Senate confirmed Horn in July 2001. He is a child psychologist.

Horn said Monday that he would work for Deloitte & Touche LLP. His
resignation is effective Sunday. He said that he considered the
reauthorization of welfare reform last year and the implementation of a
mentoring program for children of prisoners as signature achievements.
