It is still early in the conference schedule process, but I can help. The
conference will follow the standard Smart Marriages format which means the
conference will "officially" begin with an opening keynote at 6:30pm on
Thursday June 28. It will "officially" end with a Sunday night banquet.

I say "officially" because about a thousand people will arrive before the
opening to attend PRE-Conference Training Institutes and a thousand more
will stay after the "official" close to attend POST-Conference Training
Institutes.  

And, because it's the Training Institutes that are the heart and soul of
this conference, you want to factor these in BEFORE you make your travel
plans.  The Institutes provide the opportunity to train and certify as an
instructor in dozens of marriage education programs - with the masters -
those that created the programs. There are 18 PRE-Conference Institutes and
18 POST-Conference Institutes.

Further complicating things is that some institutes are 3-day, some 2-day,
some 1-day.  So, planning your hotel and flights depends on WHICH institutes
you might attend.  

The Institutes list is NOT yet perfect, but we're close enough for you to
make decisions. I just posted it on the smartmarriages.com Conference

- CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

I've been getting requests for registration packets. The conference brochure
and registration materials will be available in March.   Or, send your
postal mailing address if you'd like to receive a brochure in the mail.  If
you've attended a prior conference, no need to send your address.  Unless,
you've moved. IF YOU'VE MOVED, PLEASE SEND YOUR NEW ADDRESS. - diane

- HOTEL, AIRLINE AND RENTAL CAR DISCOUNT INFO IS ALL POSTED ON THE WEBSITE
Now that you have the Institutes list, you can make your hotel and airline
reservations.  Given the proximity to the July 4th holiday, I urge you to
make your reservations asap. Car rentals, too. Last time we were in Denver
(2000) lots of you rented cars and made a holiday of it - driving through
the Rockies. I plan to stay and see the fireworks in Denver. Did that last

- POSTER SESSIONS: THERE IS STILL TIME TO SUBMIT
Workshop applications were due Oct 10th but there is still time to present a
poster session. Poster sessions provide the opportunity for conference
attendees to become acquainted with the latest research and program and
practice innovations in the field of marriage, family and couples education.
Posters will be "open" and available for viewing throughout the conference:
Wed - Sun. Posters will be located in the high-traffic exhibit area. To

- CONFERENCE VOLUNTEER "WORK EXCHANGE" POSITIONS
If you have students/interns in your classes, marriage initiatives or
families, alert them to the opportunity to attend the full conference
(Institutes included) on a work/exchange arrangement. AND, there are
volunteer dorm rooms - they can split a $75 a night room 4 ways and really
save $$. To apply, student must email me to request an application.  See

- ROOMMATES
Because I know this info about volunteer dorm rooms will get you thinking,
I'll include info about Roommate info for the rest of you.
Find a roommate to split the hotel costs -- a great way to save money plus
if you're attending alone, it's great to have a "conference buddy". And, you
will meet great people from all across the country and around the world.
Many attendees create their own dorm room -- find several roommates.
Single/double rooms: $109.  Triple: $119.  Quad: $129.  It's definitely
cheaper by the roomful.....

- EXHIBITS
Exhibits are open 8am Wed - 6:30pm Sun. Exhibits will be located in the
high-traffic prefunction lobby area, all on  one floor right outside the
main keynote ballroom - the absolute heart and soul of the conference, like
a conference unto themselves.  Exhibits are only $600.  For information and
