- STOICA GRANT WRITING TELE-CALLS AND MARRIAGE EDUCATION EXPERT CALLS

Dear Diane,
For the past several weeks, I have conducted a series of "Grant Orientation"
teleconference workshops, designed to help people decide which of the many
currently-available grant opportunities would make the most sense for them
to apply for. (Downloadable copies of two of those presentations are
available at www.CaliforniaMarriages..org
<http://www.californiamarriages.org/> .) In addition, for the last two
weeks, Carolyn Curtis and I (both from the California Healthy Marriages
Coalition) and Julie Baumgardner (from First Things First) have conducted a
series of project-design "ask the Marriage Education experts" phone-in Q&A
sessions.

Now that people have basically decided which grant(s) to apply for, and what
their project looks like, I figure they might be ready for some old
fashioned grant-writing training! So, this Tuesday, June 13 from 6:30 pm
to 8:30 pm EDT (that's 3:30 to 5:30 for my west coast friends) I will be
conducting a 2-hour Grant Writing Training. This is the same workshop I
have conducted at Smart Marriages for the last two years. But this time, it
will have a very specific focusŠŠnamely, I am going to be applying the
"general grant writing principles" to the specific projects and criteria
covered under both the "Healthy Marriage Demonstration Grant and the
"Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Grant".

In order to register for this teleconference training, people will need to
send an email containing the following information to
Registration at CaliforniaMarriages.org
<mailto:Registration at CaliforniaMarriages.org> : their Name, Organization
Name, Title, City & State, and phone number they will be calling from. We
will reply with the call-in info and the handouts they will need to
participate in the training.

Above I mentioned the "Ask the Experts" Q & A service we have been
providing. As a reminder, one of those occurs today. From 3pm to 5pm
today, people can have "Java with Julie", and ask Julie Baumgardner her
advice on grant project-related design issues. Call (605) 772-3001; when
prompted enter the following access code: 420703#. (Note the only charge
to participate is your normal long distance telephone charges.) If you
would like to submit your questions in advance (or during the call), which
will be answered during the call-in time, send an email with your questions
to AskTheMEExperts at gmail.com <mailto:AskTheMEExperts at gmail.com> ..

And, because these "Ask The ME Experts" call-in services have been so
well-received, we have decided to add three more slots for this coming week.
Since Smart Marriages starts the following week, these will be the last
opportunities to "ask the experts" in this grant-writing cycle. Here are
the timeframes:

* Wednesday, June 14 1pm to 2pm EDT "Dining with Dennis" (Dennis Stoica,
President of Calfornia Healthy Marriages Coalition and Orange County
Marriage Resource Center)
* Thursday, June 15 4 pm to 5 pm EDT "Java with Julie" (Julie
Baumgardner, Executive Director of First Things First, in Chattanooga)
* Friday, June 16, 1pm to 2pm EDT "Coffee with Carolyn" (Carolyn Curtis,
Executive Director of California Healthy Marriages Coalition and Sacramento
Healthy Marriage Project.

The call-in information for all of the "Ask The ME Experts" calls is the
same the phone number is (605) 772-3001 and the access code is 420703#.
However, the call-in info for Tuesday's grant-writing training workshop will
be different, and will only be provided to people that pre-register for that
training, as indicated above.

Good luck to all of us as we hurriedly write our EXCELLENT grant proposals!
