- ASIAN AMERICAN DAY JUNE 5 IN LOS ANGELES
Hello Diane,
The KCCD Asian Pacific American Healthy Marriage Network has been very
active. We have put up a website: http://www.kccd3300.org (just click the
symbol with two rings) The website lists key organizations who provide
marriage strengthening in Korean/Asian American community. Our network
consists of marriage educators, therapists, pastors, community based
organizations and other supporters.
We are hosting our first National Korean/Asian American Marriage Day
Celebration on June 5 in Los Angeles. There will be an Encore Wedding event
the following event. We have started a campaign to recruit 200 pastors who
will commit to strengthening marriages and families and commit to premarital
counseling before marrying a couple as well hosting activities related to
strengthening marriages.
Hyepin Im
Plan to join Hyepin at the Asian American Marriage Roundtables at the Dallas
Smart Marriages Conference on both Friday and Saturday mornings at 7:30am.

- ON-LINE MFT
Diane,
Capella University (online) has a Master of Science (MS) in Human Services
Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling/Therapy Specialization. In doing some
study to find an MFT program for myself, this is the closest thing I have
been able to find.
Here's a link to get the specifics:

>> Dear Diane,
>>
>> I am about to send in a group registration for 5 people (4 paid, one

>> post-conference institutes. When it comes to the person whose registration
>> will be complimentary, do we pay $ 125 or $ 175 for each day of the

> You pay the $125 "with conference" fee for the institutes for the comp person.

> Dear Diane,

> My husband wants to attend Sat only. I don't see how to register him at the
> spouse discount rate.
Saturday is an ideal day for him to join you. He'll see four great keynotes
and two 90-min workshops plus can attend the Sat Night Live Mark Gungor
event. And, lunch is included. However, there is no spouse discount for
single-day registrations. It's still a great deal, only $165 if he
registers by the May 5th early-bird discount. - diane

> Dear Diane,

AAUUUGH. WHAT idiot planned this conference?! Or, I should ask, who
designed the registration form. Ooops, that would be me. So, I'm the one to
help you sort this out. I'll get to that in a minute.
First, I encourage you to encourage your wife to attend the whole
conference. She'll love it. And, you'll really enjoy having her there with
you in the sessions. As I've said on this list way too many times, the #1
complaint at the conference is "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME TO BRING MY SPOUSE!?"
Once you experience the conference, you'll see what I mean. You can register
for the Gray and Gungor keynotes (there is no Gray Institute, so I assume
you mean keynote) at $36 each and the Michele seminar for $15 - total $87.
For only $133 more, she can register at the spouse discount rate and see the
whole conference -- all the keynotes, seven 90-min workshops and the Gungor
event. And, three lunches are included. Lots and lots of spouses who are not
in the profession attend and love the conference. And, many of them end up
co-teaching marriage ed classes with their spouse.
BUT, if you want to register her for just the banquets plus 2 keynotes and
the Sunday seminar, here is how to do it. Don't register on-line. Register
by FAX or by mail. Indicate her guest banquet tickets on your registration
form. Then, for the keynotes and seminar, write on your form "see attached
sheet". On the attached sheet explain that you want the registrar to charge
your credit card an additional $87 for tickets for your wife (state her full
name) for the John Gray ($36), Mark Gungor ($36) keynotes and for the
Michele Weiner-Davis seminar ($15). You will be sent a conference badge and
your wife will be sent three tickets that she will show at the door for
admission into those three events. Her banquet "tickets" will appear on
your badge as a number. Or, if you are registering by mail, you can pay the
full amount by check. Hope that's clear. - diane

EXHIBITS
I'm assigning exhibit tables today. If you haven't sent in your exhibit
application, please try to do so this week. We're nine weeks from the
conference. But whose counting??? Eeeek. - diane
