subject: With deepest sorrow

from: Smart Marriages

It is with the deepest sorrow that I inform you that Ron Johnson, founder
and director of the National Family Life and Education Center (NFLEC), has
passed away. He leaves his wife, Joyce, and 5 children.

He was scheduled to present his program, "The 10 Rites of Passage", a
fatherhood, abstinence, marriages education program, at a keynote session
and workshop at the July Smart Marriages conference. His son, Charles
Johnson, who has assumed leadership of NFLEC will present the keynote and
workshop in his place. Charles will be joined by Rozario Slack, MDiv, of
the First Things First program in Chattanooga. Rozario is a trained
instructor in the "10 Rites of Passage Program".

The program was selected for a keynote session because it was deemed the
very best curriculum available for teaching at-risk youth a message of
responsibility to self, family and community. It is a program remarkable in
its ability to imbue students with a positive, empowering vision and with
long-term goals. We hope many of you will attend the keynote on Friday and
the workshop on Saturday morning and that you'll stop by the NFLEC booth to
learn more about the program. For information visit: www.NFLEC.org

This is a terrible loss for the Johnson family and for us all. We must all
do what we can to help take his message and program forward.
