from: Smart Marriages

It's a busy week for marriage education legislation.

The Maryland marriage education bill introduced by Del John Leopold passed
in the senate today 41 - 4. The bill earlier passed the house 140-24.
Governor Glendening vetoed the legislation last year, but it has been
amended to answer the his objections by spelling out the requirements for
marriage educators. It will be on the Governor's desk next week though
he has until the end of June to sign or veto it. The legislation offers
counties the option of participating and of setting marriage license
discounts for couples who have taken at least a 4 hour marriage
education class in the year prior to applying for their license.
