This timing is so good I should just claim that
I knew about it and that that's why I picked the conference
dates in Orlando! Our hotel is just 50 minutes from the launch
site. The conference begins at 6:30pm on the 21st.
What an exciting reason to bring the kids along! - diane sollee

Diane:
In reading yours and John Crouch's conversation about marriage
education I would add as you suggest that whatever is done to attempt
reconciliation should occur BEFORE filing, before an attorney becomes
involved in the process (other than to remind a client that they have this
legal obligation). With the covenant marriage legislation we are seeing
that the two-year waiting period before filing for separation or divorce
(if there is no fault, which in the vast majority of cases there is not)
coupled with a requirement that the spouses make all reasonable efforts to
preserve the marriage, including marriage counseling, which necessarily
includes marriage education, is having a very salutary effect. I am in the
process of collecting anecdotal stories of these couples but the legal
obligation to make these efforts coupled with the lengthy waiting period
and the NON-INOLVEMENT of attorneys in an active way has been very, very
helpful. Every saved marriage that involves children is a victory for
those vulnerable ones. - katherine spaht

Regarding the post about divorce stats:
The last credible data from the Nat. Center for health Stats is 1997.
The numbers do not change much from year to year. I ignore their 1998 data,
and 1999 will be worse, because they will cease making an adjustment, so
that it will appear that the number of divorces has fallen from 1.16 million
to under 1 million. Census should be ignored.

We all read that they are on the rise, well, trust me,
they are! And they're all just about as absurd as this:

been married for 25 years. We have much more in common then her husband, We
have been together since March online and on the Phone. We Love each other
very
much!! One more problem, They have two Beautiful children that are
Wonderful.
Shall we keep this relationship up? Please help us!! We talk to God every
day
hoping he will help us one day! B.
