Thu Mar 9 13:13:03 EST 2000
from: Smart Marriages
Good Morning America will air the series on Marriage starting tomorrow
Friday the 10th. But the promos this morning said it would be about
the "New Divorce in America".......stay tuned. You never know what
comes out after the editors massage what's in the can.
Dare we get our hopes up?? This from Arizona Rep Mark Anderson about
the progress on the Arizona Marriage Education bill. The most innovative
and far-reaching legislation to date.
HB2462 passed out of the Senate Family Services committee 7-0
today, and will go before the whole Senate within a few days in Committee
the Whole. Just a small progress report. One more step on the journey.
People in Jordan, Africa and Korea have received their brochures and many
Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, etc haven't. Go figure. Hang in there, they
on their way. You are fine if you get your registrations in by April
15th. - diane
>I received the conference brochure two days ago (March 5). Thanks, it really
>arrived very early, comparing that we live far,far from you (Middle East).
>Good Evening Diane,
>I'm wondering if Shirley Glass' book on affairs is out, she gave us a
>chapter at the last year's conference, but I'm seeing more and more people in
>my practice with this problem and I really need a good book for them!
>The last person I saw today was one whose husband, had had an emotional
>affair and although I know how devasting that can
>be, I am facing a difficulty in finding literature and good solid
>information for her.
>If you can help I'll appreciate it much! Thanks
Shirley Glass is working on her book which should be out in 2001.
On the smartmarriages web site
articles page there is a great piece by her that will help.

Also, the her tapes from the conference are excellent and many say
them helps. Call 800-241-7785. The audio tapes are only $10.
Regarding the article you posted "A Class Feminists Might Abhor,"
I know the media loves these kind of stories about singles and the
pop psychologists that part them from their money by helping them market
themselves, but I am so tired of them, and take serious issue with the
message it sends.
In our immediate-gratification consumer-oriented society, people want and
expect to get what they want now, short cuts are good, money buys
etc. When applied to relationships this mindset is sabotaging, and when
applied to singles it sets them up for failure.
David is the founder of LifePartnerQuest - a course for singles - which
he'll present at the Smart Marriages Denver conference and which you can
on the Directory of programs or at www.LifePartnerQuest.com. And there
is a seminar by Tom & Beverly Rodgers "How to Find Mr or Ms Right" -
route of a different color than that portrayed in the NY Times article.
HOW can we get the surgeon general to add marriage to his Healthy People
ANN LANDERS Setting goals for healthy Americans
By Ann Landers, 3/8/2000
Dear Ann Landers:
January marked a major milestone in the health of our nation - the
release of the Healthy People 2010 Initiative. This sets the nation's
health goals for the first 10 years of the new century. Please encourage
your readers to join the initiative and become part of this country's
The initiative forecasts what can be achieved through prevention efforts.
As Americans embrace healthy lifestyles, we can dramatically improve the
health of the nation and advance our goals of eliminating disparities
between different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.
Please urge your readers to reduce their health risks by: 1) increase
daily physical activity; 2) get regular checkups, including blood
pressure and cholesterol; 3) quit smoking; 4) reduce excess body weight;
5) eat a balanced diet; and 6) practice good hygiene by brushing teeth
and washing hands.
As we build healthy bodies one step at a time, we can build a healthier
America one person at a time. If your readers would like more
information, they can call 800-367-4725, or visit our Web site at
