When I read about the Arp's recent "10 Dates" campaign, I asked them if
they'd write it up and share it with the list. They did and even came
up with a discount for list readers. -diane  

Here is their invitation - or should I say, challenge!: 

Let's Make Year 2000 the Year of Marriage-the Year of Dating-the Year of
Fun!

Background:
We do a relationship segment every couple of weeks on our local NBC
affiliate station on a program called "Live at Five." In our last segment 
we
announced that Marriage Alive was proclaiming Year 2000 as the 
International
Year of Marriage - the year of dating - the year of fun! A few years ago 
we
worked for several months in Vienna, Austria with the United Nations re 
the
1994 International Year of the Family, but why wait for the UN to get 
around
to marriage? So join us in making this the Year of Marriage!
The start of a new millennium is a great time to revitalize marriages by
starting a dating revolution. Dating builds the couple friendship and we
all know how important that is!

Here's what we're doing:
Starting this month we will launch a Great Date on our TV segment, on our
website www.marriagealive.com and in our free E-mail Marriage Builder
Newsletter (through HarperCollins). We'll post a dating guide on our 
website
that couples can down-load for each monthly great date.

We are encouraging couples to make the commitment to have one great date a
month during year 2000. They can do their dates alone as a couple, or join
or start a 10 Great Dates Couples' Night Out group. We're happy to post on
our website any groups and churches who are offering the program. We're 
also
running a contest on our website for the most creative dates.

 Perhaps this is something you can adapt
in your own practice, church, synagogue or community. Feel free to 
encourage
your clients, churches, or small groups to join us in having 10 Great 
Dates.
While couples can use any curriculum, we're offering our 10 Great Dates
book and/or video curriculum (and at a discount if you mention you are 
part of
the  SmartMarriages network.)  Together we can get couples who may be 
hesitant
to sign up for a class or seminar involved in marriage education by 
"dating."
Who knows, this could be the catalyst they need to motivate them to
