Folks,
This is a last minute reminder that the early bird conference
registration rate for the Collaborative Family Health Association ends
October 1. You can save $50 by registering before then. Also, plane
fares continue to be reasonable this far in advance of the conference.
The current financial difficulties make it important to take action to
save money and to stay abreast of changes in healthcare. Sometimes
spending a little now can make things work financially much better in
the future.
Since we designed this years' conference, the movement toward the
Patient Centered Medical Home has continued to build momentum.
Thirty-three states have medical home programs or pilots. Twenty-seven
out of thirty-nine Blue Shield plans have instituted programs. Major
employers have decided to join the movement. Behavioral health services
are natural core services of the PCMH, though they are not yet mandated
in many of the current programs. The IOM, NIMH, SAMSHA, HRSA, The
Robert Graham Center, The Carter Center, The Colorado Health Foundation,
The Colorado Trust, Aetna Behavioral Health, and others are in active
communication about how we can get behavioral health services into the
basic model of the PCMH as it rolls out across the country.
The CFHA Conference is the best venue for catching up on what is
happening in this important movement and to develop the skills and
research methods for being a player in its development.
