Is the FQHC a member of the National Association of Community Health
Centers? They have a lot of technical expertise and should be able to
help you ID the source of the problem as well as strategize about how to
resolve it.

Subject: RE: [PC-BH-Integration] Reimbursement
I am struggling with getting reimbursement for MFT's in an FQHC
Behavioral Health/Primary Care in Northern California. I know that they
are not on the list of providers but they actually have better training
(specific to our needs) and are more available for hire then LCSW's. I
work in a relatively large county government who started the integration
of Primary Care and Behavioral Health over a year ago. Our county has a
waiver from the Dept. of Mental Health on billing medi-cal for MFT's and
I assume they got a waiver from the Feds. I know a number of other
counties also have a waiver. They had to do this because of the
availability of the employment pool. I am investigating this and will be
sharing my information with anyone who needs it. I would also appreciate
any information that anyone has. Thanks.

Hi,
Here's an opportunity to have input on specific issues related
to reimbursement of mental health services in primary care setting!
Please provide a brief description of your specific concern, its
impact on care, and pose a possible solution.
I will forward your responses to key individuals who are
attempting to identify and respond to these issues in a systematic way.
Thanx,
Harriet
