Last week, a Muslim man who said he had been an agent inside the global
jihadi network for several European intelligence services published a
memoir, "Inside the Jihad." The broad outlines of his story were
confirmed to several reputable news organizations, but much of the
detail remains uncheckable.
I wrote two stories for UPI about the book, which I think raises some
interesting questions about efforts to spy on al-Qaida prior to Sept. 11
