"Hold forth!?"

A very odd question, this. Intended as a provocation
perhaps? A very important case broke last week
revealing yet another highly effective Chinese CELL
scooping up Military secrets in the U.S. May I ask
please, what bugs you about Gertz's reportage? My
immediate retort must be to have fun with your
diction ... or have some wee fun with the question.
"Who are the Chinese? I hear they are on the path of
military ascendancy. Has anyone else noticed this?
How are they perceived by the community of nations?"

(Mr. Moderator, please treat this as humour, in a
matter of rather grim urgency. I have noticed over
the years that you have some rather thin skinned
academics on your subscriber list. And I don't think
any of them have ever outed any spies. Some of us do
try to DEFEND our country, each according to ability.)
I don't subscribe to this Forum for the amusement.

Perhaps what it will boil down to in the end is this:
"Ask not what you read in the papers about Chinese
espionage. Ask what you are prepared to do to protect
your country from a hostile power." Gertz is one of a
the good guys.

By the way, for a Chinese American take on the story
go to THE EPOCH TIMES. Meihua Zhou, of their
Chicago Bureau had an interesting followup entitles
IS TV NETWORK IMPLICATED IN SPYING. Nov. 10 2005.

Cheers from Vancouver
