Honorable Group:
I will be one of the first to agree that during the time of Mr. Peakes
service in J2 exhaustive efforts were made to find Dead and Remains. There
was not and never was an official effort to find LIVE pows. With the close
down of the War and the MAC SOG closing (MAC SOG 80) to be exact, and the
termination of the "Bright Lights" program all efforts save those of private
individuals and families to find "LIVE" pow/mia ended.
Officially as of the announcement of then Acting DoD Secretary Clements they
were all dead as determined by Jimmy Carters Administration who struck a
terrific blow in killing all of them.
I would challenge all of those whom are interested in this dynamic and
terrible time in our history to clear up the facts. I find it amazing that
no mention of those coming home now from Korea whom were kept as prisoners
are never mentioned nor are those found in Russia as a result of efforts of
the newer administration.
DoD, and its efforts along with DIA and its hap hazard working efforts never
ever made a serious effort to find a live pow/mia other than Scott Speicher
and they tried very hard to bury that one.
I would ask that those of us whom are writing here look into why was
Speicher declared dead then it took 5 or 6 years to get anyone to consider
him otherwise beyond that band of crazies as many refer to them.
Shame on the US for its actions here. I know I'm bloviating and probably a
little emotional about it this morning .
