Let's hope Atty. Gen. Ashcroft doesn't start thinking like Joe McCarthy.
Ashcroft has the Patriot Act, whose powers Congress was either too naive or too
smart to think of giving to McCarthy. It's getting kind of unamerican, IMHO, to
wish congressional witchhunts on top of all the other mindbending new policies
stemming to the 9/11 tragedy. I do not mean to be disrespectful to those
holding such ideas, but I don't want to feel I have to look over my 
shoulder at my
neighbor to see if he is watching what kind of gasoline I am using in my lawn
mower.
