May I correct Dan Verton's assertion that Bob Woodward was never an
intellligence officer? Au contraire, he was, and the newspaper story
('PENTAGON TO ABOLISH SECRET SPY UNIT') that launched him into the
Washington Post was a highly controversial Naval Intelligence revelation
about Task Force 157. The accusation from the US NAvy was that he had used
insider information, acquired prior to August 1970, when he was
Communications Officer to the Chief of Naval Operations.
